Petals is Now Free to Use

Monday, 4th May 2026

Petals started with the simple idea of making it easier to connect the plants in your garden to the stories behind them.

Petals launched in 2023 with our smart plant labels. Tap a label with your phone and you could instantly open that plant's profile, add notes, upload photos and keep track of everything from planting dates to growth updates.

As more and more gardeners have tracked their gardens with Petals, we've realised the most useful part of the platform wasn't the label itself. It was the ability to document plants, track their progress and build a living record of a garden as it grows.

Now, as we head into our fourth summer, that's the part we wanted to make easier to access.

So from today, you can now use Petals for free without needing to buy smart labels first.

You can sign up, add plants in seconds, upload photos, record care notes and start building your garden straight away. There are no labels, app downloads or setup required.

If you already use our smart plant labels, don't worry - they're still very much part of Petals. You can still buy smart labels and add them to your garden whenever you like.

Petals smart plant labels are a simple way to tag pots and plants, share plant profiles with visitors and instantly open a plant's record with a quick tap of your phone. But now, you can build a plant profile without needing to physically tag it first.

Whether you're keeping track of a few favourite plants, documenting an entire garden or simply trying to remember what on earth you planted in that corner last spring, Petals is now the easiest way to record what you grow and the stories that grow with it.

If you'd like to try the new Petals for yourself, you can sign up for free today and start tracking your plants, adding photos and building a living record of your garden in seconds.
